The Wollombi Tavern as it is today, sits on the site of an earlier public house, originally built around the time of early European settlement during the 1840s. Known then as the Wollombi Wine Saloon, it remained a popular stopping point for travellers up until it was destroyed by fire in 1959. That event was a major turning point in the history of the tavern and for Wollombi itself. But, more of that in the section devoted to the illustrious Dr. Jurd. |

The Tavern is often visited by helicopters on their way up to the Pokolbin wineries and restaurants. Space is reserved for several helicopters. |
